LIMPOPO SURGEONS TO HONOR NELSON MANDELA BY OPERATING 67 BABIES

Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba will lead a team of surgeons on Monday, 18 July 2022 from different specialities and other supporting clinicians as they honor former president Nelson Mandela by operating 67 babies of which 45 will be done in Mankweng and the remaining across rural hospitals in the province.

“We are humbled and excited by the spirit of volunteerism from our surgeons who are heeding the call by the former state president himself whose wish was for Mandela Day not reduced to be another public holiday but a day to serve humanity.” said Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba

Dr Ramathuba furthers stated that “As part of continuing with his legacy, our focus will be on children hence our day has even attracted external experts including Professor Tshifularo a paediatric surgeon stationed in George Mukhari hospital Gauteng. Operations will start at 08ham until 00h00 midnight on the day. We are happy that the former state President continues to inspire us even if he has gone beyond to continue to serve”
