Letsoalo, Chiefs Saga Clarified By Mnisi

Royal AM CEO Sinky Mnisi has clarified the saga around Kaizer Chiefs’ interest in Victor Letsoalo and his involvement in the sale to Sekhukhune United.

Letsoalo, 29, joined Babina Noko in a deal worth just R3 million. Many were left wondering about the relatively low fee after Chiefs were reportedly quoted around R20 million for their first approach in January.

At the time, Royal AM chairman Sinky Mnisi insisted that Chiefs need to pay up if they really wanted the striker. However, he now came out and stated Royal AM never asked for R20 million for the striker and there was no official bid from Amakhosi either.

Mnisi also explained that he was not part of Letsoalo’s transfer to Sekhukhune United.

“The sale of Letsoalo, I was not part of the negotiations between Royal AM and Sekhukhune United. I did not know how much Letsoalo was sold for,” he said during a heated press conference on Wednesday, where he insisted he is still the Royal AM CEO.

“I’ve not see the contract, signed by both Royal AM and Sekhukhune and I did not issue a clearance. I’m not even part of that, I’m not briefed into that information, I don’t know anything.

“Yet people are going out ‘I’m sinking them, I’m selling their players’. I don’t know what happened with that deal.”

He then went into detail about Chiefs’ alleged pursuit of the player.

“By the way Royal AM never said they needed R20 million for Letsoalo,” he added.

“That was from the media, that was from the media. And there was no written [offer] from Kaizer Chiefs to buy Letsoalo, it was never there.

“So I fail to understand that people are going around that Sinky Mnisi to his friend, because they worked together some time ago.”
