Lerato Kganyago and Lawrence Maleka to host MMA 2026

South African DJ and radio host Lerato Kganyago and actor and TV presenter Lawrence Maleka will host the Metro FM Music Awards 2026.

The awards will take place on 25 April at the Durban ICC in Durban. The show will air live on SABC 1, with streaming available on SABC+ at 20:00. The annual awards celebrate excellence in South African music and honour some of the country’s biggest artists.

LERATO KGANYAGO EXCITED TO HOST AGAIN

Speaking to Metro FM, Lerato Kganyago shared her excitement about returning to host the awards.

Lerato said, “I’m super excited about hosting this one with Lawrence. When they told me I said, ‘I couldn’t think of anybody else.‘“

This will not be Lerato’s first time hosting the awards. She previously hosted the Metro FM Music Awards 2023 alongside award-winning TV host Katlego Maboe.

LAWRENCE MALEKA READY FOR HIS FIRST MMA

Lawrence Maleka also shared how excited he is about hosting the prestigious awards ceremony for the first time.

Maleka said, “I’m pretty much excited this is going to by first Metro’s. So, when I found out I was pretty excited and I was pretty stoked. It was one of those on your bucket list and your just like okay, this is something I would definitely do. When I found out who I’m working with I was like, ‘Come on bro!’

I’m truly excited to be join the Metro FM family. Truly excited for the nominees. I’m truly excited for everybody to just experience the many wonderful glittering dresses that Lerato is going to throw at South Africa!”

EXPERIENCED HOSTS TAKE THE STAGE

Both stars are comfortable in front of the camera and behind the microphone. Lerato Kganyago has built a successful career as a DJ and radio personality.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Maleka is widely known for hosting Big Brother Mzansi season 3 in 2022 and season 4 in 2024.

With their strong on-screen presence and vibrant personalities, the two stars are expected to bring energy, humour and glamour to the stage when they host the Metro FM Music Awards together.
