Lentjies Takes Chippa to PSL DC For ‘Unlawful Sacking’

Former caretake coach Kurt Lentjies is not taking his sacking at Chippa United lying down easily, iDiski Times has learnt.

The former attacking midfielder has taken Chippa to the PSL DC for what he has termed as an “unlawful sacking” by the Port Elizabeth club, this publication has been informed.

Lentjies is also demanding the settlement from the breach of contract, which was terminated without a payout.

Chippa chairman Siviwe Mpengesi confirmed on Saturday after Chippa beat AmaZulu 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium that Lentjies was found guilty of improper conduct by the independent disciplinary body after he swore at them in several messages.

“Kurt Lentjies’ matter is not over,” said the iDiski Times source.

“Kurt has taken Chippa to the PSL DC for the breach of contract. He still had a contract with them but they terminated it unlawful.”

Lentjies, who was replaced by Daine Klate who has since been fired too by the club last Thursday, took over at Chippa in November last year after the sacking of Gavin Hunt. He helped the club finish above the relegation zone, 14th on the standings.

However, in July Chippa confirmed that Lentjies has been handed a special leave without going into details. At the same time they revealed that they were looking for a new coach, a clear indication that Lentjies was not coming back to the club.

Lentjies is following his former coach Hunt to approach the league to demand his settlement in the way he was sacked. Hunt, after he was sacked in November, which he felt was not proper, took the club to the PSL DC, demanding his money from the existing contract.

He got his money in July via the PSL legal department, along with his team Roy Limongelli and Ian Taylor. Limongelli was named the club’s Technical Director while Taylor was named Hunt’s assistant coach when they were appointed at the beginning of last season.
