Lebo M supports Minnie Dlamini’s legal fight against Mac G and Sol Phenduka

Music producer and composer Lebo M has publicly declared his support for Minnie Dlamini as she takes on MacGyver “Mac G” Mukwevho over offensive remarks made on his podcast.

Mac G came under fire after claiming on air that Dlamini “cannot keep a man due to smelly genitals,” a crude statement that he and co-host Sol Phenduka laughed off as a joke.

The comments have since triggered widespread outrage, with Phenduka suspended from his Kaya 959 radio slot and Dlamini moving forward with legal action.

The television presenter is suing the podcast boss for R2.5 million, demanding R1 million in compensation for the damage to her reputation and dignity, while pledging that the remaining R1.5 million be directed to a women’s organisation.

“I have watched in disbelief and deep pain as my name, body, and dignity were dragged through the mud of public discourse,” Dlamini said in a statement through her legal team.

Standing firmly with her, Lebo M and his foundation released a statement condemning Mac G’s remarks and linking the issue to the wider fight against gender-based violence.

“This is not just Minnie’s fight, it is South Africa’s fight,” the Lion King composer declared.

He added that too many women “live in fear due to the high cases of gender-based violence,” stressing that “we can no longer allow GBV to remain a private issue hidden behind closed doors.”
