Lawrence Maleka quits The River, and three of the show’s best actors leave

South African actor and TV host Lawrence Maleka, has reportedly dumped Mzansi Magic’s top show The River.
Lately, Lawrence has been busy hosting awards shows and hosting Big Brother Mzansi. According to entertainment blogger Phil Mphela, Maleka, who plays Zoleka Dlamini, will no longer be part of The River new season.

Although the reasons for his departure are unclear, the overall lackluster nature of this season’s storylines has been criticized. Another actor leaving the show is Hlomla Dandala.
The actor who plays National Police Commissioner Zweli Dikana, real name Hlomla Dandala announced his departure on his Instagram stories. The story suggested that Dandala had just finished his final day on set of The River and he bid farewell to his colleagues.

The story suggested that Dandala had just finished his final day on set of The River and he bid farewell to his colleagues.
A tweep wrote “He must’ve been fed up with the writing decline. This thing of “telenova episodes airing” back to back everyday is killing the writing quality of many stories in SA. I don’t understand why they aren’t adopting the worldwide standard of limited episodes each year in a season.”
