Lauryn Hill to perform in South Africa this year

South Africans have every reason to celebrate this Heritage Month, as iconic American singer Lauryn Hill is making her long-awaited return to the country for the 2025 DStv Delicious Festival.

The multi-award-winning star is set to headline the main stage on Sunday, 21 September, with a powerful lineup that includes her fellow Fugees member Wyclef Jean, alongside YG Marley and Zion Marley.

It’s been six years since Hill last performed in South Africa.

Her most recent appearance was in Johannesburg back in February 2019 for the 20th anniversary of her groundbreaking album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, where she was joined by rapper Nas.

DStv confirmed the news on social media with an excited post: “This is not a drill – Ms. Lauryn Hill is headlining our DStv Delicious Festival 2025 Sunday main stage, and she’s bringing Wyclef Jean, YG Marley & Zion Marley with her!”

The announcement has been met with massive excitement across social media, with fans already expressing their eagerness to attend.

Some users wondered if she would really show up this time, given her history of unpredictable performances.

“I’m literally anxious for Saturday’s headliner. Is Lauryn coming? No, mam. Thanks, DStv,” one user joked, while another wrote, “DStv kinda stood on business this year! And Lauryn better show up.”

Adding to the buzz, the festival’s Sunday lineup also includes celebrated South African artists such as Lira, Mandisi Dyantyis, Zoë Modiga, Oskido, and Joyous Celebration Rewind.

Full details about the Saturday main stage and dance stage will be revealed next week when additional tickets drop.

Speaking about the return of the festival to Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, Funeka Peppeta, Marketing Director of DStv Delicious, shared: “It’s incredible to be back at the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, and we can’t wait to welcome fans to a weekend that celebrates us all through music and food as we come together during Heritage Month.”
