Kaizer Chiefs are preparing to make major decisions on player contracts and the composition of their squad after finishing third in the Betway Premiership.

A number of contracts are due to expire at the end of June, resulting in several players facing the Naturena gate.

KAIZER CHIEFS PREPARE FOR SQUAD CHANGES

iDiski Times reports that Kaizer Chiefs are expected to part ways with five players. This list is Gaston Sirino, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Pule Mmodi, George Matlou and Tashreeq Morris.

“Kaizer Chiefs’ exit list is said to have at least five players as their contracts are due to expire at the end of June,” the outlet reported. “Gaston Sirino, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Pule Mmodi, George Matlou and Tashreeq Morris are likely to depart.

“While there have been question marks around the futures of Fiacre Ntwari and Thabo Cele, they remain contracted to the club for a further season,” the report added.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Kaizer Chiefs supporters may not have to wait much longer for clarity regarding the club’s coaching situation. The Soweto giants are expected to make an announcement on their new head coach in the coming weeks. The incoming mentor also likely to arrive with his own technical team as preparations for the 2026/27 season intensify.

Speaking at the launch of the 2026 Toyota Cup, Jessica Motaung suggested that Kaizer Chiefs will soon make several major announcements.

She praised the work done by the previous coaching staff. She then confirmed that the club will soon reveal its plans for the future.

“We thank the coaches and the entire team for the good work they did in securing us a third-place finish,” said Motaung.

“But regarding the future of the team and our plans, announcements will be made soon.”

Motaung said Kaizer Chiefs will use the Toyota Cup to unveil key developments ahead of the new season. The club is expected to provide updates on the coaching staff, players and other changes.

“Everyone is waiting to hear news about the coaching staff, the players coming in and out, and other changes. The Toyota Cup will give us the opportunity to present all of that properly,” she said.

They will face Zimbabwean champions Scottland FC in the third edition of the Toyota Cup. The match will take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Sunday, 26 July 2026. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
