There was late drama in Sunday’s DStv Premiership afternoon fixtures, as ten man Royal AM scored in stoppage time to beat Swallows 1-0, while Chippa United scored late to pick up a 2-1 win over Golden Arrows.
Royal AM move into second spot, above Kaizer Chiefs.
Royal AM 1-0 Swallows
There was drama at the Chatsworth Stadium as Royal AM scored in stoppage time to beat Swallows 1-0.
Patrick Nyame made an excellent save in the seventh minute, denying Khetukuthula Ndlovu a goal against his former team.
Ricardo Nasimento’s header in the 13th minute was easily saved by Thela Thela, while Givemore Khupe was off target three minutes later. Mwape Musonda’s effort in the 29th minute was saved by Nyame.
Mxolisi Macuphu was off target in the 38th minute with an acrobatic effort, and at half-time, it remained goalless.
Kamohelo Mahlatsi went narrowly wide two minutes into the second half, while Kabelo Mahlasela was off target a minute later at the other end.
Swallows had a huge chance in the 51st minute, as Nyame found himself in no man’s land. However, Ndlovu’s final effort was cleared off the line by the experienced Nascimento.
Royal AM were reduced to ten men in the 76th minute when Zukile Mkhize was sent off for a reckless tackle on Keletso Makgalwa.
Victor Letsoalo tested Thela in the 80th minute, but the Swallows keeper was able to block the effort.
And just when it looked to end in a draw, Elias Pelembe scored a stunner deep in stoppage time to give Royal AM the victory.
Golden Arrows 1-2 Chippa United
Meanwhile at the Princess Magogo Stadium, Chippa grabbed a late winner to win 2-1 in Durban.
Pule Mmodi got Arrows off to the ideal start when he scored a great individual goal in the opening minute of the game.
Chippa were level in the 40th minute courtesy of a goal from Siphesihle Mkhize.
And the visitors would grab the winner in the last minute of the game, when Sandile Mthethwa scored to make it 2-1 in the 90th minute.
