Lasizwe Dambuza Looks Ahead to Fatherhood

For many, 2025 has been a year of public scrutiny and private reflection. For Lasizwe Dambuza, South Africa’s outspoken YouTube personality and creator of the hit series Awkward Dates, it’s also been a year of milestones, lessons, and hard-won triumphs.

At a recent SA Rugby and Samsung event in Sandton, Johannesburg, the 27-year-old revealed to Independent Media Lifestyle that fatherhood is on the horizon. “What you can expect from me next year, there is one big project I am working on – I am working on getting pregnant,” Dambuza said, leaving fans curious but inspired by his candidness.

A Year of Ups and Downs

Dambuza openly reflected on the turbulent moments of 2025. “One of my lows was fighting publicly online. I am not someone who appreciates that. I hate fighting online and in general, so that was one of my lows. It took a toll on me, but we bounced back.”

This year, the media personality faced several high-profile disputes. He had a public disagreement with his brother, Lungile Mcunu, over the family taxi business and also had financial disputes with content creator Dominic Zaca. Additionally, he encountered backlash for hosting Simon Kaggwa Njala, a guest on Awkward Dates, whom some critics labelled “homophobic.”

Despite the controversies, Dambuza celebrated significant career highs. Awkward Dates, which airs on DStv, continues to resonate with audiences, cementing his reputation as a trendsetter in the South African content space. “This year, definitely my career high was Awkward Dates being on DStv and generally just killing the space,” he said with pride.

Festive Season Plans: Rest, Rejuvenation, and Connection

As 2025 draws to a close, Dambuza is looking forward to a more personal kind of celebration. “A Lasizwe summer to me looks like a lot of rest, lots of time indoors, lots of time in the swimming pool, lots of intimate parties with my friends and family, and just spending time with the people I couldn’t see throughout the year.”

He emphasizes the need to recharge before stepping into 2026: “This festive season, I am out. I am going to regenerate, get back my energy so that in January I can kill it like I killed it this year.”

A Fresh Chapter in 2026

With fatherhood on the horizon, Lasizwe Dambuza is poised to enter a new chapter of life. Fans on social media have expressed excitement, flooding his timelines with congratulatory messages, well-wishes, and speculation about the journey ahead. For a personality known for his authenticity and willingness to share both the highs and lows, this next phase promises to be just as compelling as his years in the spotlight.

In a year marked by both challenges and breakthroughs, Dambuza’s story is a reminder that growth often comes in waves—and sometimes, the most rewarding projects are the ones closest to home.
