Larsen – Sundowns Have Weaknesses

Summerfield Dynamos coach Clinton Larsen says Mamelodi Sundowns have weaknesses that they can exploit in their Nedbank Cup quarter-final of Loftus Vervseld on Saturday.

The KZN ABC Motsepe League champions will face ruthless Sundowns who are on course for a historic quadruple, having already wrapped up the MTN8 earlier this season.

In the build-up to the fixture, Masandawana head coach Manqoba Mngqithi said they should offer the third-tier side respect, as they hold several former PSL players in their artillery.

And Larsen, speaking to Maskepe Matsebane on Power FM suggests they aren’t invincible – noting how they’ve conceded in previous games this season.

” Every team have weaknesses,” he said. “Swallows scored two goals against them the other day that tells you they are not invincible they can concede goals.

“Whether you are Manchester city whether you are PSG whether you are Sundowns any team have weaknesses it’s up to us to try and make sure that whenever we get any opportunities against them because opportunities are few and far between you’ve got to take those opportunities when they represent themselves.”

The former Bloemfontein Celtic coach pointed out that Masandawana’s is not the quickest and they can maybe have joy there.

“For me, I think they [are] not the quickest defence. If there’s an area that we can get maybe some joy on our quick break attacks on our quick combinations play, I think we got plays on our team that can pose a threat to Sundowns,” he concluded.

The Chatsworth-based outfit meet the South African champions in Tshwane on Saturday afternoon (18h30).
