A massive R100 000 reward is being offered by Sunfoil manufacturer Willowton Group to anyone who can help them find their stolen goods and apprehend the perpetrators.

This comes after the Sunfoil manufacturing powerhouse issued a public statement about the incident.

The notice posted on their social media accounts read: “The Willowton Group regretfully announces that one of their warehouses was raided by an armed group of men on Wednesday, 5 October 2022”.

A substantial amount of 2L Sunfoil cooking oil was taken, according to the company. “The Willowton Group requests the general public and trade to refrain from purchasing these stolen goods.”

The company also explained that it is joining forces with police to locate the stolen goods using known batch numbers. “A reward of 100 000 is being offered for any information that would lead to the successful apprehension of these perpetrators and/or the recovery of the stolen goods,” said the company.

Informants have been instructed to contact 082 888 7813 with any information, and the company has pledged to treat all information with the utmost confidentiality.

Prices of cooking oil has since gone sky rocket since the beginning of war between Ukraine and Russia, which impacted the country’s supply of sunflower and wheat

A 2L cooking currently costs slightly more than R100 at reputable retail outlets. In comparison to two years ago, this price has increased by nearly 50%.
