Kaizer Chiefs’ newest signing, Langelihle Phili, says joining Amakhosi is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream as he prepares to begin the next chapter of his career at Naturena.
The 21-year-old winger completed his move from Stellenbosch FC this week and is determined to make a meaningful contribution as Kaizer Chiefs look to build on a promising start to the 2026/27 season.

From Durban to Naturena
Born in KwaZulu-Natal, Phili began his football journey with a local township club in Pinetown before joining the AmaZulu academy, where he progressed through the ranks.
He later moved to Stellenbosch FC in 2023, initially featuring for the club’s DStv Diski Challenge side before earning a professional contract the following season.
After two campaigns in the Cape Winelands, the talented winger has secured his move to one of South Africa’s biggest clubs.
“I come from Durban and I began playing for a local township football club in Pinetown. From there I progressed to the AmaZulu youth academy where I progressed through the ranks until reaching DDC level when I left for Stellenbosch in 2023,” Phili told the club’s official website.
“I played in the DDC for their U23 team and was offered a professional contract the following year. I had two seasons with Stellenbosch and now I am overjoyed to be here at Kaizer Chiefs.”
An emotional family connection
The move carries special significance for the winger, who revealed that his late grandmother was a devoted Kaizer Chiefs supporter.
“The first thing that came to mind was my grandma, who has sadly passed away. She supported Kaizer Chiefs and I always used to watch them with her when I was young,” he said.
“Everyone at home supports Amakhosi, so I thought it would be a good move for me to join the team I grew up supporting and being here feels like my dream has really come true.”
Phili added that he is eager to meet his new team-mates and coaching staff as he settles into life at Naturena.
Trophy ambitions
The winger also sent a heartfelt message to the Amakhosi faithful, promising to give everything for the club.
“Thank you for choosing me. I am finally here and would love nothing more than to win trophies and make great memories with you.”
Phili becomes Kaizer Chiefs’ fifth signing of the current transfer window as head coach Fernando Da Cruz continues to reshape his squad ahead of what the club hopes will be a successful campaign.
