Lady Du thanks Mpura and Killer Kau ahead of album release

South African musician Lady Du is still reeling after the deaths of her close friends, Killer Kau and Mpura. The two died alongside three other musicians while travelling to a gig in Rustenburg in 2021. In a hearty Instagram post, she shared how their deaths were a big part of what made the last two years extremely hard for her.

Many of her fans have offered words of kindness and support after she thanked her late friends ahead of her album release this coming week.

Most of South Africa was left devastated when they heard that amapiano musicians Killer Kau and Mpura died in a car accident.

While many people have come to terms with the deaths of the young stars, those closest to them are still mourning.

A close friend of the artists, Lady Du, recently thanked the late amapiano stars for helping her become the musician she is.

In a lengthy Instagram post, she celebrated her album being complete while thanking everyone who played a role in making it — Killer Kau and Mpura included.

Part of her post reads:

“Before my album drops next week, I’d like to write a message to all the people that have supported my brand from day one. The past 2 years have been sooo tough for me, I first lost my brothers in music, then went through the most with the management issue. 

“A lot of you celebrated me but didn’t know how hard my life was, I literally had to carry a smile at ever performance had to be the kindest person but I’d get home and cry,” wrote the Zuma hitmaker.

The singer previously headed to her Instagram page where she shared a very emotional clip expressing how the death of Mpura and Killer Kau has affected her.

She also asked people to understand that she isn’t only a celebrity but a human who just lost people close to her.
