Lady Du pays tribute to her late dad a year after passing

South African musician Lady Du has taken to social media to honour her late father on the first anniversary of his passing.

In her heartfelt post, Lady Du reflected on how the pain of losing a parent still feels fresh, despite a year having passed.

She expressed that while life has continued moving forward, a part of her world has remained unchanged since the day her father died.

The singer opened up about the lingering grief she experiences daily, revealing how she still finds herself wanting to call him, hear his voice, and share moments only he would understand.

She noted that grief does not necessarily fade with time but instead becomes something one learns to carry.

Lady Du added that her father’s presence continues to live on through her thoughts, decisions, and personal growth, as she strives to honour his memory in everything she does.

Closing her message on a vulnerable note, the star admitted that words cannot fully capture how much she misses him.

She also reached out to those around her for comfort, asking for hugs as she navigates the difficult day.

Du wrote: “One year today, and somehow it still feels like it just happened yesterday. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think of you, Dad. The world kept moving, but a part of mine stood still the day you left. I still find myself wanting to call you, to hear your voice, to share the little things only you would understand.”

“Grief doesn’t get smaller we just learn how to carry it. And I carry you with me in everything I do. In my thoughts, in my choices, in the person I’m becoming. I miss you more than words could ever explain.😭😭😭 yho when you see me today please give me a hug,” she added.
