Nonkanyiso “LaConco” Conco is expanding her business interests once again, this time by revisiting an industry she previously walked away from.

The television personality and entrepreneur recently revealed that she is making a return to the coal mining sector, sharing photos from a mining site in Mpumalanga and opening up about her journey into the commodities business.

Taking to Instagram, LaConco reflected on her first attempt to break into the industry in 2022, admitting that the experience exposed her to both the opportunities and harsh realities of the business world.

“Dear coal, we cross paths again. I was first introduced to coal business by a good female friend back in 2022,” she wrote.

The former reality TV star explained that while the industry initially intrigued her, the challenges she encountered eventually forced her to step back.

“Entering the world of commodities opened my eyes to both opportunity and the harsh realities of greed, betrayal, loss and dishonesty. It became overwhelming, and I had to step away,” she added.

Despite the setbacks, LaConco says she is returning with a fresh perspective and a willingness to learn more about an industry that plays a significant role in South Africa’s economy.

“I am here ready to learn, grow, build meaningful relations, and understand this industry that powers economies, communities, and infrastructure. The smell of the dust, the sound of the machines, and the energy of this environment fulfills my heart,” she wrote.

The media personality also hinted that her entrepreneurial drive is motivated by her son, Sakhaumuzi Zuma, whom she shares with former president Jacob Zuma.
