South African rapper and podcast host Thato “L‑Tido” Madonsela has achieved a major breakthrough with his show, The L‑Tido Podcast, now securing a weekly broadcast slot on DSTV.

According to The Citizen, the premier of the podcast on DStv begins this Thursday. The podcast will air every Thursday at 9:30 PM on Mzansi Wethu, DStv channel 163.

Launched in 2022, the podcast began as a YouTube venture and has grown into a cultural touchpoint, featuring candid conversations with top local celebrities such as AKA, Boity, Pearl Thusi, Emtee, and, most recently, Anele Zondo.

The show’s bold and unfiltered format, coupled with memorable viral moments, has driven substantial online traction and inspired conversation across social platforms.

L‑Tido himself took to social media to announce the milestone, “The #LTidoPodcast just signed a deal with @dstvza. We go live this Thursday, 9:30 pm on Mzansi Wethu.”

Industry observers see the agreement as DStv’s bid to refresh its content lineup following the departure of other popular podcast shows. Earlier this year, DStv ended partnerships with shows such as MacG’s Podcast and Chill and Lasizwe’s Awkward Dates, signaling a shift toward new voices in its audio-visual roster.

The rapper also took a lighthearted swipe at MacG, whose show was previously pulled from DStv, sharing an old clip where MacG joked he would cancel his subscription if L‑Tido’s podcast ever replaced his—suggesting a changing of the guard in local podcast broadcasting.

MacG: “Sadly our DStv run has come to an end guys, season one is over they didn’t renew the contract. 😬

But all the other shows are still there, it’s just us, and Lasizwe, I don’t know why… That lose hurt.”🥺
