Sihle Mavuso presents the latest news from KwaZulu-Natal.
Nongoma – The National Freedom Party (NFP) in Zululand want the police to quickly solve the killing of activist Musa Ndwandwe in the Musi area near Nongoma. He was found shot dead at home. His death may be linked to a local feud that started when one schoolboy stabbed another.
Durban – The DA in eThekwini is worried about ANC plans to restrict water supply. They say eThekwini failed to manage water losses and now residents must suffer. Less water could also harm sewage systems.
Richards Bay – Public Works MEC Martin Meyer and Umhlathuze mayor Xolani Ngwezi agreed to use empty state properties for housing. They’ll also tackle illegally occupied state houses.
KwaDukuza – Ex-Cope member Siyanda Mhlongo has criticised the ANC for recalling Mayor Lindiwe Nhaca. Mhlongo says her recall is not about the residents but about ANC leaders wanting access to municipal billions for elective conferences.
Umdoni – Cooperative Governance MEC Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi met with the Umdoni council again to discuss stability. This follows the resignations of municipal manager Thabisile Ndlela and chief financial officer Mahendra Chandulal. Buthelezi appointed Dhanpalan “DD” Naidoo to help solve the municipality’s problems.
