Durban – Two former EFF members from Umlazi and Clermont in Durban, recently suspended over allegations of extortion, have joined the MK Party. Anele Faku and Bongumusa Mhlongo, who deny the allegations, were introduced as new members of the MK Party Labour Desk, which advocates for exploited workers.
Kloof – Nonkululeko Hlongwane-Mhlongo, Rise Mzansi’s former KwaZulu-Natal premier candidate, has announced her departure from all party roles. She stated that while “moving away,” she continues to support Rise Mzansi’s vision of an inclusive South Africa.
Jozini – Management at the Jozini Dam will begin releasing water today until 24 October as part of its annual process to maintain controllable water levels. Local communities are warned to be cautious near rivers and floodplains due to potential flooding.
eThekwini – Southern Sun, the international hotel group, has won the bid to operate the Elangeni and Maharani Hotels on Durban’s beachfront for the next 50 years, following a competitive bidding process.
Verulam – David Mkhanyisi Ntshulana, a soccer coach and pastor accused of raping young boys, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. This conviction relates to the rape of a nine-year-old boy in Mhlasini last September.
