KwaZulu-Natal flood victims who have taken over the Transnet Hostel in Durban are refusing to leave until they’re provided with proper housing.
At least 300 homeless victims invaded the empty building last week after living in community halls for the past four months.
They accuse the government of making empty promises about housing and neglecting them.
The victims say the living conditions at the community halls were inhumane and with the help of the Umsinsi Movement, they found a safer place.
The movement says all government representatives they have asked for help have left them in the lurch with no explanation.
