KwaMashu Police Search for Relatives of Man Found Injured and Burnt in Bushes

Police in KwaMashu are urgently calling on the public to help locate the family or next of kin of 36-year-old Simo Jali, who was discovered severely injured earlier this month.

Jali was found on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, in the bushes along Nyala Road in H Section, KwaMashu. According to authorities, he had sustained multiple injuries, including severe head trauma, bruises and distinct burn marks.

Although he was found alive and in possession of his identity document, police have been unable to establish contact with his immediate family.

The Office of the Provincial Commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal has appealed to community members who may have a missing family member matching this description, or anyone who recognises Jali’s name and details, to come forward.

Anyone with information that could assist in reuniting Jali with his family is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Gwala on 082 7171 286 or 031 325 6612.
