Kobola Delights In Win For Baroka

After picking up a 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows in his first game in charge, Baroka interim coach Vincent Kobola said his team worked really hard to ensure the three points.

It was a vital win for bottom-placed Baroka, who have three games remaining in this season’s DStv Premiership. While they remain in last place, they are now just two points behind 15th-placed Swallows.

Kobola admits it was a hard-fought win, and praised his team’s work rate throughout the game.

“It was a tough one, but we really put (in) the effort, we really worked hard, especially when off the ball and which I’m happy about,” Kobola said after the game.

“And also the getting a clean sheet and finally scoring a goal. We scored two against Swallows, and then we let three in, but today I’m very much happy with the organisation, especially from my back four.”

Kobola praised his defence, and also goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane, in his first start. He also said he had to rely on his senior players to keep the team calm.

“You must remember when the team is fighting relegation, they tend to panic and fear creeps in,” he continued.

“I just tried to calm them down, but I’m outside, they’re inside, so I really relied more on my senior players to try and calm the game down, and also Jackson made the difference for us.”
