KING CHARLES ADDRESSES ANDREW’S ARREST

Disagraced ex-Prince Andrew was arrested on his 66th birthday on Thursday 19 February, on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly passing secret documents to pedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein.

His older brother, King Charles released a statement following his arrest. In the statement, King Charles expressed that full, fair and proper process will follow. He also said the police have his full support. He went on to say that the law must take it’s course and he will not comment further.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities,” read the statement.

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation,” read the statement.

“Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all,” King Charles continued.

WHY WAS ANDREW ARRESTED?

The arrest follows an investigation into whether he shared confidential government documents with the late Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a UK trade envoy between 2001 and 2011. It has been reported that emails the ex-prince forwarding sensitive reports on investment opportunities and official visits to Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong and Afghanistan to Epstein, often just minutes after receiving them from government advisers.

Experts have said that police will be examining any devices they seized, such as phones and laptops. A search was also done at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, where Andrew lived until three weeks ago.

Andrew was reportedly treated like a “common criminal” during his 11 hours in custody.
