Khanye – Why Chiefs Were Lucky In Soweto Derby

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye has explained why Amakhosi were “very, very lucky” to beat their bitter rivals in Saturday’s Soweto Derby.

The Glamour Boys completed the league double over the Buccaneers, thanks to goals by Reeve Frosler and Eric Mathoho, while Kwame Peprah had scored for Pirates.

Khanye, though, believes the game could’ve ended differently, had it not been for luck and the heroics of Brandon Petersen.

“The last minute save by goalkeeper Brandon Petersen, the one he saved by his legs,” he said on iDiskiTV.

“There’s a ball that also hit the woodwork, which it was gonna go in at any given day.

“Individual brilliance is the one that helped Kaizer Chiefs to win the game, there are o combinations at all.”

Khanye also believes the Buccaneers won the midfield battle, even though Stuart Baxter’s men collected the three points.

“Orlando Pirates controlled the game and played in front of Kaizer Chiefs, they controlled the midfield while Kaizer Chiefs had four midfielders,” he added.
