Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has made a plea to the Amakhosi management over the contract situation of Njabulo Blom.
Blom, 22, has impressed for Chiefs in the defensive midfield role in recent games, but the Soweto giants are at risk over losing their youth product as his contract runs out by the end of the season.
Earlier this campaign, Blom’s agent Rob Moore had confirmed that the player’s camp and the club were stuck in contract negotiations.
With the situation still not being resolved, Khanye insisted Blom gave the club another brilliant performance in Chiefs’ 1-0 Soweto Derby win to prove his worth for Arthur Zwane’s side.
“Kaizer Chiefs deserved to win this match. They planned for Orlando Pirates and they delivered a win for their fans,” he said on iDiskiTV.

“Njabulo Blom did a great job in the midfield. He tracked back and supported S’fiso Hlanti. Kaizer Chiefs is a very difficult club to rise at and make a name for yourself. The pressure is very high.
“Blom has been at Chiefs for a long time now. I’m glad he is starting to improve.
“I wish the club can resolve his contract situation and not allow it to reach a stage where he can sign a pre-contract with another club. The boy has proven himself.”
Khanye went on to praise Ashley Du Preez despite his two misses in the first half of the Soweto Derby, while also freeing Siyabonga Mpontshane of any fault in Yusuf Maart’s wonder goal.
“Kaizer Chiefs deserved to win by two goals in this game. Ashley Du Preez missed two one-vs-ones with the goalkeeper. He can do better. He made excellent runs in between the defence,” he added.
“Yusuf Maart’s goal was brilliant and in fact, I cannot blame the goalkeeper there.”
While Chiefs are now heading into the FIFA World Cup break ahead of Orlando Pirates on the log and overall in fourth position, the Buccaneers have a chance for redemption when they face AmaZulu in Saturday’s MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
