Former Baroka head coach Kgoloko Thobejane has found new employment, six months after parting ways with the relegated DStv Premiership club.
The charismatic coach was shown the door at Bakgaga in April this year following some poor results. The club was subsequently relegated to the first division at the end of the season.
But the former school teacher has now resurfaced in the ABC Motsepe League in the North West. Thobejane has been given a task to help the newly formed Som FC gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The club is based in Kameeldrift in North West.
“We roped in Kgoloko to come to our club because our ambition is to go to the PSL. That is what we brought him,” co-chairman Simon Obakeng Mochocho confirmed to FARPost.
KGOLOKO THOBEJANE MANDATE
“I have been working with him for a long time. He has also helped me in the Castle division for some time. His mandate is to take us to the PSL (Motsepe Foundation Championship). He knows that we want to go to the NFD.
“He (Thobejane) is very happy to be here. You must understand, Kgoloko has a good personality. He is like a father to the players. They love him a lot because they know him and he is a very good coach. He is not someone who likes fighting with players, no he is very good,” he said.
SOM AMBITIONS
“Our plan is to take this club to the PSL. We want to go to the NFD and pass, but we won’t stay. That is our ambition. We want to go far with this team.”
The club is co-owned by Mochocho and Thabiso Serage. They have ex-professional players such as former Orlando Pirates striker Aethe Khaukanani and ex Baroka keeper Tshogofatso ‘Spider’ Molapo.
