Kgalema Motlanthe has announced ANC leaders nominated for top six positions

The top two contenders for the African National Congress (ANC) presidency have been named President Cyril Ramaphosa and former Health Minister Zweli Mkhize.

Ramaphosa garnered 2,037 nominations, according to Kgalema Motlanthe, the leader of the ANC’s election committee, while Mkhize received 916.

The candidates running for the top six posts on the ANC’s national executive committee were named by Motlanthe.

ANC branches nominated Nomvula Mokonyane and Febe Potgieter for Deputy Secretary General.

Prior to the ANC’s 55th National Conference next month, Motlanthe stated in a statement to the media on Tuesday in Johannesburg that all nominees had accepted their positions.

“The names that have been successfully nominated and audited and as the Electoral Committee asked each one of them whether they accept the nomination or not and they have all confirmed as such, that they accept the nomination. And as you know the rules allow for the vetting process.” said Motlanthe,
