Kerr Unsure About His Swallows Future

Following a 4-0 loss to Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday, coach Dylan Kerr says he doesn’t know what his chairman David Mogashoa is thinking next whether to fire him or not.

While Kerr was briefing the media after the game against Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, Mogashoa phoned Kerr, leading the mix zone to be halted.

Kerr then told the media that his chairman has asked for a meeting on Monday and it is not clear what is going to be discussed. However, Mogashoa denied this on social media.

The former Baroka coach said if the club feels they don’t see a future for him, he has no problem and took full responsibility for the way they lost to Arrows.

However, he wasn’t helped by the shambolic defending especially on the left hand side of defence where Yagan Sasman struggled with the speed of Arrows, especially Nduduzo Sibiya.

For the first goal, Sasman cheaply lost the ball in his half, leading to Knox Mutizwa to set up Sibiya. Sasman tried to avert the danger but he hacked Sibiya down with the referee pointing to the spot kick. After that Kerr did not wait long as he took the former Kaizer Chiefs defender off in the first half.

“After this result, I don’t know what the chairman is thinking,” admitted Kerr after the game.

“I have to take responsibility for which I will. If the chairman feels it is time for change, then that is his decision.

“I don’t think it was a 4-0 game, I don’t think we kind of capitalised on our opportunities we had especially in the first half. I thought we got chances to score.”

After that crushing defeat, which was their second successive loss after losing to Stellenbosch at home previously, Swallows dropped to 14th on the table with eight points after eight matches.

When asked if the issues at Swallows are deeper than what everyone sees at the club, Kerr refused to comment.

“I can’t comment on that,” he said.

He then added after the phone call with Mogashoa: “Probably I have got a meeting with him at five o’clock on Monday because we are losing.

“At the end of the day, I don’t want to lose football matches. I am preparing a team that I think is going to win football matches.”

Challenges have reportedly gone deeper at Swallows as there have been talks of financial issues at the club. They are also facing a FIFA ban on signing players as the previous Swallows entity still owes players who reported their matters to FIFA. But that Swallows side of 2015 was liquidated.

However, Mogashoa said they are dealing with this matter urgently.
