Kerr: Thibedi Needs Time To Develop

Swallows FC coach Dylan Kerr has responded to claims Given Thibedi deserves more game time after his move from Kaizer Chiefs.

Thibedi, who was a regular for Swallows last season, hasn’t started a single game this campaign, only making three substitute appearances.

Overall, the 24-year-old has played only 45 minutes in 2021/22 since returning to Swallows from Kaizer Chiefs.

But Kerr has insisted Thibedi needs to develop as a player in order to gain more time on the pitch.

“So all of a sudden, everybody’s talking about Given Thibedi,” Kerr told Sinethemba Makonco on Zibonele FM.

“I know what a quality player he is, and he’s gonna get better. But he needs to grow and develop as a player.

“I said to him it’s like he’s played 500 games and he hasn’t, he’s played five.

“So, you know, he’s from Kaizer Chiefs, why didn’t he stay at Kaizer Chiefs?

“People might ask where these players are but they I have to work with them everyday and see what their attitude is and see what the character is.”
