Marumo Gallants incumbent coach Dylan Kerr believes playing at Peter Mokaba Stadium will suit his team because, even though they will miss the support of the fans in Bloemfontein, the field is in a much better state.
Gallants received massive support when they played their few league home games at Toyota Stadium, with football supporters wearing Bloemfontein Celtic colors pushing the club to do well.
Bahlabe Ba Ntwaa lost only one game at the Toyota Stadium, which was against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup last 16.
But Kerr believes the less noisy support from the stands at Peter Mokaba will not have a negative impact on the team, insisted the field at Wednesday’s venue will be to their advantage.
“To be fair it won’t have an impact. The fans are the 12th player which everybody knows how the Bloemfontein fans are,” Kerr told iDiski Times.
“But it shouldn’t have an impact on us because, one the fans are amazing but also you have to look at the field in Bloemfontein, it’s a rugby field, it’s not ideal for football.
“The surface at Peter Mokaba is gonna be a lot better for us because of the way we play football.
“The way we’ve been over the last games I’ve been in charge we haven’t had a home game, we’ve always played away now we are back at home.
“It’s up to the players to make sure that they are mentally and physically healthy in their mind and body to go play what is the biggest final so far.”
Gallants face Chippa in a relegation six-pointer on Wednesday evening in Polokwane (19h30). Kerr’s side enter the game two points behind Chippa and could overtake the Chilli Boys on the log with a win.
