Kerr Opens Up On Heated Scuffle With Tinkler

Marumo Gallants incumbent coach Dylan Kerr opened up on his heated scuffle with Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler after their DStv Premiership clash earlier in the week.

Gallants got a point away from home, when they faced City on Tuesday night after a four-goal thriller, which saw them closing the gap between them and the play-off spot.

The clash between the DStv Premiership sides produced almost everything on the pitch and it continued to do so after the final whistle when Kerr was seen arguing with City head coach Tinkler.

At some point, it got so heated that players had to get involved to separate the two coaches.

After the game in the press conference, Tinkler was asked about the incident but refused to comment. Speaking with iDiski Times, Gallants Kerr explained that those were football emotions, nothing personal.

“Nothing much in that, those were football emotions. We can’t be speaking about it. It’s not something to look at. If you are in football you will understand this is a game of emotions,” Kerr told iDiski Times.

“We preparing for a trip to Libya, that’s where my focus is now. It is important for us to do well. We will leave the country soon, we are busy with the arrangements now.”

The Malta-born tactician was not in the post-natch press conference, as he is still awaiting his work permit.

While officially being roped in as a “consultant”, with former assistant coach Raymond Mdaka working as interim head coach, it is long clear that Kerr is seemingly calling the shorts at Gallants.

The team has only lost twice ever since he arrived at the club and he is yet to lose a league game, as he was only defeated by USM Alger in the CAF Confederations Cup and Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup. His team also picked up five wins – three in the CAFCC – and two draws since Kerr’s arrival.

Gallants next face Al-Akhdar in the Confederation Cup, when they could secure their qualification for the knockout stages on Sunday.
