- Kenny Kunene has been cleared of wrongdoing after being linked to accused crime boss Katiso Molefe, the alleged mastermind behind DJ Sumbody’s murder.
- He was suspended from the Patriotic Alliance and resigned as Johannesburg MMC for Transport during the investigation.
- A law firm probe confirmed his explanation that he was at Molefe’s home accompanying a journalist.
The Deputy President of the Patriotic Alliance, Kenny Kunene, has thanked all those who supported him and stood by him during his investigation into any alleged criminal activities.
Kunene has been cleared of any wrongdoing following an investigation into his alleged criminal connections.
He was found at the Sandton home of Katiso Molefe when police showed up to arrest the controversial businessman in July.
Katiso Molefe is accused of orchestrating the brutal murder of Pretoria businessman and DJ Oupa ‘DJ Sumbody’ Sefoka.
Molefe is also allegedly involved in organised crime, specifically drug networks and other homicides, including the killing of another DJ known as DJ Vintos.
On his X profile on Tuesday, Kunene posted an African quote that read as follows:
“When the village finds no mud to throw at a man, they will grind dust just to cloud his name”.
The quote was followed by the caption: “My name is Kenny Kunene and I am baaaaack”.
X village made me understand this African Proverb in the PIC. What I appreciate is that dust gets blown away by the wind and I remain unscathed. My name is God ordained. I was born for God’s purpose, my life has been a journey of a Giant that God protect in Jesus name. Thank you… pic.twitter.com/tMJwrW0YV5

When Kunene was found at Molefe’s residence, he said he was accompanying a young journalist from his online news website, Africa News Global.
He was subsequently suspended from the Patriotic Alliance (PA) and resigned from his position as Johannesburg MMC for Transport, pending investigation.
PA leader Gayton McKenzie announced on Facebook on Monday that the investigation by a law firm found Kunene’s story checks out.
