Kelly Khumalo’s son Christian wants to drop-out from school

South African singer Kelly Khumalo has revealed that her son, Christian Khumalo, is considering dropping out of school.

The star made the revelation during her sit-down on The L-Tido Podcast, where she spoke candidly about her views on the country’s education system.

Kelly argued that the system is “very systematic” and fails to provide practical life skills.

“To them, the only form of success is education. It is very systematic,” she said, adding that many young graduates are unemployed despite their qualifications.

She went on to stress that if schools focused on teaching business and entrepreneurship, young people would be better equipped to succeed.

The award-winning singer, who dropped out of school herself, admitted she wasn’t shocked when Christian, her son with rapper Jub Jub, told her he no longer wanted to study.

“I realised that maybe as a mom I need to create a better structure than what I was given,” she explained.

“When he said that, I saw myself. That is the power of the tongue. I always told myself that I would not raise children who would be part of the system. The system is very flawed.”

Her comments drew mixed reactions online, with some fans agreeing that traditional education is limiting, while others emphasized that schooling remains vital for every child’s future.
