Kaze confirms major Kaizer Chiefs captaincy change

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has confirmed that the Glamour Boys have a new captain.

Amakhosi captain Yusuf Maart left the club at the beginning of the season, leaving a serious void at Naturena.

The club then opted to give the armband to Inacio Miguel for the new season. Zitha Kwinika however was also given the armband whenever he was on the field of play, adding to the confusion.

Now, a new Kaizer Chiefs captain has been officially confirmed.

Petersen named as new Kaizer Chiefs captain

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brendon Petersen has been named as the new Amakhosi captain.

He officially takes over the captaincy duties from Inacio Miguel. The news was confirmed by coach Cedric Kaze.

“We have decided as the technical team of the club that Brandon Petersen will now be the captain of the club moving forward,” Kaze told FARPost.

Petersen joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2021. After struggling to leave his mark at the club, his time has indeed come this season.

The towering goalkeeper has made 11 appearances for the club so far this season.

He’s conceded six goals, while keeping an impressive seven clean-sheets for the Glamour Boys.

Petersen’s form spells bad news for Ntwari

And while Petersen is in the form of his life, his performances mean Rwandan international Fiacre Ntwari could soon leave the club.

Ntwari is reportedly attracting offers from abroad and could leave Kaizer Chiefs in the coming months.

“A lot of teams contacted me, but the team asked for a lot of money. You must be realistic,” Rwanda coach Adel Amrouche told IDiski Times.
