Kaizer Jr. Explains Addition To Technical Team

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has explained why the club appointed Aubrey Tlali Mathibe as new goalkeeper coach.

The 41-year-old was at the club between 1999 and 2006, playing second fiddle to the likes of Brian Baloyi, Rowen Fernandez, Emile Baron and Itumeleng Khune.

Mathibe is a former teammate of Kaizer Jr. who explained it’s important to have people who understand the culture of the club in the coaching department.

“We are happy to welcome Tlali back to the Kaizer Chiefs fold,” Kaizer Jr. told the club’s media department.

“It is important to work with people who understand the Chiefs culture; and having spent almost seven years with the Glamour Boys, we are confident that he will be able to help our keepers in the reserve and senior teams follow our philosophy.”

Head of Technical Molefi Ntseki added he hopes Mathibe can help the club in their continued attempts to produce quality goalkeepers.

“We have to acknowledge that it is going to be challenging because Chiefs has always produced top goalkeepers over many years, and we need to continue to this legacy,” Ntseki added.

“We look forward to Mathibe sharing his knowledge with our young goalkeepers.

“We will give them all the support that is available here at the Village and we need to make sure we continue to produce international level goalkeepers.”

Mathibe will work closely together with Lee Baxter, who has been with the club since February 2018.
