Kaizer Chiefs have officially unvailed Asanele Velebayi as their newest signing for the current transfer window.
Velebayi joins Amakhosi on a free transfer following his departure from Cape Town Spurs.
The speedy winger was most recently involved in a contractual dispute with Spurs on the back of their relegation to the ABC Motsepe League.
However, as reported by The South African, the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (PSL DRC) ruled in his favour, declaring him a free agent, and thus, giving him the green light to sign for Chiefs.
The deal between Chiefs and Velebayi was long concluded, but the Soweto giants couldn’t do anything until the player had his clearance.
KAIZER CHIEFS UNVEIL ASANELE VELEBAYI
Velebayi, 22, has penned a four-year deal with Chiefs, meaning he will be at Naturena at least until 2029.
The Cape Town Spurs graduate played just one season in the South African topflight before campaigning in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
And last season, Velebayi was made captain by the Spurs management as they wanted to fend off interest from Chiefs.
At the time, Chiefs were willing to pay R4 million for his services but Spurs wanted nothing less than R10 million.
