Kaizer Chiefs transfer rumours: Duba, Phili, Lilepo, Du Preez

Today’s Kaizer Chiefs transfer wrap looks at major targets, major potential departures and the temptation to sell several youngsters.

Kaizer Chiefs to make big changes in wide areas

According to several local reports, Stellenbosch winger Langelihle Phili remains near the top of Chiefs’ transfer wish list. The Glamour Boys could put together a player-plus-cash package to lure the 21-year-old to Naturena. Ashley du Preez could be the makeweight. Pacey, diminutive star Phili got seven goals in 27 league outings last term. Glody Lilepo is another player who could be heading out. The Congolese wide attacker bagged five goals and four assists in 27 league outings last term in a mostly wide attacking role.

Is Duba for sale?

In light of Rele Mofokeng’s big-money move to Belgium, Kaizer Chiefs might be looking at their squad and seeing where they could extract some transfer value. Young, gifted players are usually the most logical starting point. Out of the entire Chiefs squad, Mfundo Vilakazi, Wandile Duba, and Mduduzi Shabalala arguably have the most potential resale value. Will the board sanction the sale of any of these players? If so, how many? After all, any sale would represent 100% profit

Chiefs kick off the new season against newcomers

Betway Premiership newcomers Kruger United will host Kaizer Chiefs on the first day of the 2026-27 season on Saturday, 1 August. The World Cup is a thing of the past, so we’ll soon be returning to the bread and butter of domestic league football.
