Kaizer Chiefs transfer rumours: Duba, Mabasa, Mayo

Today’s Kaizer Chiefs transfer rumours involve the deal for Khanyisa Mayo and its domino effect on other linked players. We also discuss Mfundo Vilakazi.

Kaizer Chiefs won’t move for Mabasa

Tshegofatso Mabasa is one of 12 exits from the champions. He spent the 2025-26 season on loan with Stellenbosch, a stint which returned mixed results. He appeared 12 times in the league, scoring four times at a healthy rate of a goal every three outings. A player with genuine goal-scoring pedigree is always of interest for clubs like Kaizer Chiefs. However, the Glamour Boys have already turned Khanyisa Mayo’s loan move into a permanent one, meaning their rumoured pursuit of Mabasa makes little to no sense. Now unattached, 29-year-old Mabasa would be available for free, but is still valued at a handsome R24 million by transfermarkt. That seems fair, given his proven goal-scoring record. Mabasa was the PSL Golden Boot winner in 2023-24 with 16 goals over stints with Pirates and Swallows.

Could Duba, Shabalala or Vilakazi be sold?

In light of Rele Mofokeng’s big-money move to Belgium, Kaizer Chiefs might be looking at their squad and seeing where they could extract some transfer value. Young, gifted players are usually the most logical starting point. Out of the entire Chiefs squad, Mfundo Vilakazi, Wandile Duba, and Mduduzi Shabalala arguably have the most potential resale value. Will the board sanction the sale of any of these players? If so, how many? After all, any sale would represent 100% profit.

Chiefs fans, if you had to sell one of Vilakazi, Shabalala or Duba, which would it be? Let us know by clicking the comments tab below 🙂
