Kaizer Chiefs’ top three players this season so far

Kaizer Chiefs could be on track to secure their best league finish in six years after a season of mixed fortunes.

A bright start to the campaign had Amakhosi tipped as early title contenders, but inconsistent form in the middle of the season saw them drop crucial points and lose ground on rivals Orlando Pirates.

However, a resurgence marked by three consecutive league victories has lifted Chiefs up to third place in the Betway Premiership standings.

Despite this improvement, they remain 14 points behind the log leaders with just eight matches left to play.

Kaizer Chiefs can finish top 3

Realistically, a top-three finish now appears to be their most achievable target. Here are Chiefs’ standout performers this season:

Glody Lilepo

The Congolese forward has been a revelation in front of goal, netting eight times to emerge as the club’s leading scorer this season. Lilepo’s knack for delivering in crucial moments has played a key role in Chiefs’ league push and their progress in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Brandon Petersen

The Amakhosi captain enjoyed an impressive run between the posts before being sidelined for surgery. With 11 clean sheets to his name, Petersen was instrumental in keeping Chiefs competitive in tight encounters. His absence was keenly felt, coinciding with a dip in results.

Kaizer Chiefs have won three consecutive matches

Lebohang Maboe

The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has been a driving force in recent weeks. Maboe has claimed three consecutive Man of the Match awards and already has four in 2026, underlining his growing influence. His control and creativity in midfield have made him arguably the club’s most in-form player.

Several other players have also contributed significantly, particularly in the first half of the season. Aden McCarthy, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Flavio Silva all made important impacts, while youngsters Wandile Duba, Mfundo Vilakazi and Mduduzi Shabalala have injected fresh energy into the squad in recent matches, helping keep the Glamour Boys ticking.

Kaizer Chiefs will next host TS Galaxy as they look to add more points and secure third position.
