Kaizer Chiefs to face Sundowns with Happy Mashiane and Given Msimango at the back?

Kaizer Chiefs could be without two of their main defenders next weekend against Mamelodi Sundowns.

This comes after Miguel Inacio was subbed off during their 1-1 draw with TS Galaxy on Saturday evening. The Angolan international started the match at the back alongside Given Msimango however in the 80th minute, he was forced off the field due to an injury.

Kaizer Chiefs soon conceded after he was subbed off having taken the lead in the first half. Miguel’s injury might see him miss the Nedbank Cup clash with Mamelodi Sundowns at the Loftus Versveld on Sunday. Miguel has played 21 league games for Amakhosi, scoring once.

“We didn’t plan to bring on (Edmilson) Dove but when Miguel got injured, we had to sub him, we wanted to bring in George Matlou and Tashreeq Morris to bring height for Morris, the official wasn’t fast enough when we wanted to change and we then conceded,” Chiefs coach Nabi said after the match.

Kaizer Chiefs to play Sundowns without Miguel or Dortley?

With Rushwin Dortley still injured, Amakhosi could face the Brazilians without their two trusted centre back. Dortley has been out for weeks and might not feature again this season. Miguel’s injury is yet to be assessed but if it’s serious, he will likley miss Saturday’ anticipated clash.

If the duo fail to recover in time, Kaizer Chiefs could have to field Happy Mashiane and Given Msimango at centre back against Downs. If Nabi opts to play Bradley Cross at left-back, then Dove might slot in at centre back.
