Kaizer Chiefs table offer for experienced Nigerian goalkeeper?

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly made an offer for Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

The 29-year-old shot-stopper is currently a free agent after parting ways with Chippa United earlier this year.

Nwabali gained recognition during his nearly four years with Chippa United and subsequently earned a place in the Super Eagles squad, serving as their number one goalkeeper for two years and participating in two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments.

Following his impressive performances in the 2023 AFCON, he has attracted interest from several teams, including Kaizer Chiefs.

According to a report from Soccer Laduma, the Amakhosi have officially tabled an offer for Nwabali, as noted by BSNSports.com.ng.

Kaizer Chiefs might bring new goalkeeper

With Nwabali being a free agent, he is available for a permanent transfer without any transfer fee.

The report indicates that Chiefs are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department, which has been inconsistent this season.

They view Nwabali as an experienced and commanding presence in goal, citing his sharp reflexes, composure under pressure, and leadership qualities as factors that make him an appealing option on the market.

Currently, Chiefs have three goalkeepers: Brandon Petersen, Fiacre Ntwari, and Bruce Bvuma.

If Nwabali is signed, one of the existing goalkeepers will likely be released, with Ntwari being the most probable candidate, as he has yet to play a single game this season.

The Rwandan international was signed in 2024 despite earlier links to Nwabali.

With first-choice goalkeeper Brandon Petersen currently recovering following an operation, Kaizer Chiefs have placed Bruce Bvuma as his replacement. Nwabali’s signing could bring stability and leadership at the back, which Amakhosi needs currently.

Will Nwabali be a good fit for Chiefs?
