Kaizer Chiefs recruitment boss slams Aziz Ki rumours

Kaizer Chiefs head of recruitment, Maliwa Thembela, has strongly dismissed reports linking the club with Burkinabe international midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki.

The 29-year-old has frequently been linked with a move to Amakhosi dating back to his time at Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga).

Aziz Ki has since completed a switch to Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca, although speculation has suggested he could be on the move again.

Kaizer Chiefs yet to make signings this transfer window

Transfer rumours gained traction on social media after Africa-based journalist Micky Jnr claimed that the midfielder had been offered to the Soweto giants during the current transfer window.

“Stephane Aziz Ki was proposed to Kaizer Chiefs during the current window,” read the post on X.

“Wydad Casablanca were reportedly open to a loan deal until the end of the season, asking for $100,000 or less. Kaizer Chiefs, however, felt the fee was too expensive and chose not to continue negotiations.”

Thembela, however, rubbish the claims, insisting that the reports were untrue and damaging to the club’s reputation.

“I so wish you guys could stop tarnishing our club with a bad name. These lies are so unfair to us and the names we are being called,” Thembela responded on his X account.

“If that brings food to your table, you’d better find something else. I am not going to keep quiet about these baseless lies. I will defend the club.”

Kaizer Chiefs have not made any signings this January transfer window. The Soweto giants, though, still have a full week to add players to their squad before the window closes.

Should Chiefs go for Aziz?
