Kaizer Chiefs on a verge of signing FIFTH free agent

Posted on August 19, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs may sign another free agent, Luke Baartman, in the coming days.

This follows the ruling by the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber, which declared the former Cape Town Spurs attacker a free agent.

Baartman’s availability could lead to a transfer to Amakhosi, where he would join his former teammate, Asanele Velebayi. Last week, the DRC also declared Velebayi a free agent, and shortly after, Chiefs announced his signing as the former Spurs captain. However, Cape Town Spurs are not giving up easily; they have filed a review application with the SAFA Arbitration Tribunal concerning the Velebayi case.

The club is likely to take similar action regarding Baartman to prevent Kaizer Chiefs from acquiring any of their players for free.

Kaizer Chiefs brought in Ethan Chislet as a free agent before bringing in the ex-Orlando Pirates duo of Thabiso Monyane and Paseko Mako on a free transfer.

Should Chiefs sign Baartman?
