Kaizer Chiefs news update: Velebayi and Baartman

Kaizer Chiefs fans are still waiting to see new signings Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman in action.

The duo’s battle with former club Cape Town Spurs has now gone up a level. The South African Football Association (SAFA) are appointing an arbitrator before the end of the week.

The pair were cleared by the Premier Soccer League’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) to leave Spurs as free agents, which allowed Kaizer Chiefs to snap them up.

KAIZER CHIEFS DUO EDGE CLOSER TO SAFA RULING

Spurs have refused to accept the PSL’s ruling. The Cape has lodged an appeal with SAFA, challenging the DRC’s ruling in hopes of overturning the decision.

“Spurs have lodged an appeal with SAFA in the Velebayi and Baartman cases, with the matter set to be heard next week once an arbitrator has been appointed,” SABC Sport‘s Mazola Molefe reported.

“The Cape-based side are seeking to have the DRC’s ruling overturned,” Molefe added.
