Kaizer Chiefs news: Shabalala, Ndlovu, Petersen, Duba

Kaizer Chiefs are looking to finish the season on a high following their impressive draws against Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

Despite their hiccup against Siwelele, the Soweto giants have accumulated 18 points in their last nine league matches.

Two more wins will all but secure the CAF Confederation Cup spot.

They will, however, have to play their remaining three matches without their star player, Mduduzi Shabalala, who is set for surgery after suffering a broken arm in Wednesday night’s Betway Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Shabalala was stretchered off following a tackle late in the first half and rushed to hospital, where scans revealed a fracture to his right humerus, a bone between the shoulder and elbow.

He remains under medical care ahead of surgery. The expected recovery period is five to six weeks, ruling him out for the remainder of the season with just three matches left to play, Kaizer Chiefs reported this week.

Another winger Wandile Duba is battling a groin injury. Amakhosi team doctors are working against time to get the player ready for the upcoming match against Sekhukhune United.

Another player to miss the Sekhukhune clash is Siphesihle Ndlovu. The midfielder will serve his suspension this weekend after getting his fourth booking for the season.

Can Kaizer Chiefs keeper Brandon Petersen make the Bafana team?

The 31-year-old keeper has been in fine form this season and is a contender for the Goalkeeper of the Season award. He has impressed especially against Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

Petersen is likely to make the Bafana squad to play in the FIFA World Cup.

Who should replace Shabba in the lineup?
