Kaizer Chiefs news: New coach, Ertugral, CAF

Kaizer Chiefs appear to be parting ways with their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, after just 14 months.

The 60-year-old coach is not part of the Chiefs team to start their CAF Confederations Cup journey against Kabuscorp SCP on Saturday in Angola, amid massive exit speculation.

His assistants Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze are currently in charge of Amakhosi this weekend until further notice.

What former Kaizer Chiefs coach is saying about Nabi’s situation

Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Muhsin Ertugral feels letting go of Nabi will not improve the team going forward

“It’s difficult to say. From the outside, it is just an opinion and difficult to judge.  Inside a team, there are so many aspects, dynamics and factors that shape decisions like that,” he told FARPost.

“Obviously, a coaching change, decisions like this don’t always bring the expected outcome. Mostly, it seems as a quick decision. What is very important to remember there is a deeper process and decisions like these are never taken lightly. He was doing well in shaping the team. There was hope,” said the former Kaizer Chiefs coach.

Amakhosi to trim their squad before the transfer deadline

Nasreddine Nabi did mention that he was looking to trim his squad to manage players. So far, Kaizer Chiefs have moved on Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove, Sabelo Radebe, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Bongani Sam, Edson Castillo and Tebogo Potsane. Yusuf Maart was sold, while Njabulo Blom’s loan deal was not extended.

Do you think Nasreddine Nabi will return to Naturena anytime soon?
