Kaizer Chiefs news: Nabi, Chislett, Kwinika, Petersen

Kaizer Chiefs have had a February to forget after getting eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup and Nedbank Cup.

Their 3-0 Soweto Derby defeat to Orlando Pirates summed up their miserable month.

This week, the Glamour Boys travel to Richards Bay hoping to find some luck. A win against Richards Bay will end their winless streak but anything less than that will surely put more pressure on Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze.

Following Amakhosi’s defeat to Pirates, ex-Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi posted a cryptic message on Instagram, which many supporters felt was aimed at the two coaches.

“Out of arrogance upon the earth and evil plotting. But evil plotting only falls back upon those who devised it …,” the former Kaizer Chiefs wrote on social media after the Soweto Derby.

“And Allah knows well the wrongdoers. They had also sought discord and had upset matters for you until the truth came and the command of Allah prevailed, though they were averse … If good befalls you, it grieves them, but if misfortune strikes you, they say, ‘We had taken our precautions beforehand,’ and they turn away while rejoicing.”

Kaizer Chiefs embarrassed in Soweto derby

It was a derby to forget for Amakhosi on Saturday, with the majority of their players failing to show up. Ethan Chislett was one of the few Chiefs players who had a decent match.

Despite only making his debut against Stellenbosch last week, the Durban-born midfielder showed glimpses of brilliance before he was subbed off just after the half hour mark.

Which Kaizer Chiefs players will miss Tuesday’s game?

Chiefs will play Richards Bay on Tuesday without Zitha Kwinika after he picked up a yellow card against Pirates. He will be suspended for Amakhosi’s midweek clash alongside Brandon Petersen.

The 31-year-old keeper was admitted to hospital and had to undergo surgery, which saw him miss out on Saturday’s derby.

Can Chiefs bounce back?
