Kaizer Chiefs fans, you want the good news or bad news first?

Kaizer Chiefs are in an unfamiliar position, fighting for the title despite being written off. There is some bad injury news, though.

Kaizer Chiefs get back that winning feeling

Chiefs clocked up an important win against Golden Arrows after the long AFCON break. The result puts them third on the Betway Premiership, two points behind leaders Sundowns. It also makes them legitimate title contenders with just over half the campaign to go. 21-year-old central midfielder Thulani Mabaso was on the bench for Chiefs and made a second-half cameo. The talented schemer has recently signed a professional deal with the club. Are Pirates feeling the heat, and will Sundowns be the biggest beneficiaries? The Sea Robbers meet Sekhukhune on Saturday, 24 January at 15:30 in a match that Chiefs fans will be watching with great interest. Sundowns fans, too. The last time Babina Noko scored more than once in a game was in September, against Chiefs.

Bafana and Chiefs star Dortley suffers a setback

23-year-old defender Rushwin Dortley had a setback in his recovery process after sustaining an injury, which ruled him out of the back-end of the 2024-2025 season. It also ruled him out of AFCON for Bafana Bafana. Before their win over Golden Arrows, the Chiefs social accounts posted content showing the squad working in the gym. Dortley was conspicuous by his absence. The talented left-footer is still sidelined and making his way back to full training.

According to SoccerLaduma, the 23-year-old is in the final stages of his rehabilitation and could rejoin the team for full training around mid-February. That bodes well for Chiefs and their quest to mount a credible title challenge towards the back-end of the Betway Premiership campaign.
