Kaizer Chiefs fans spot new signing’s jersey number

Kaizer Chiefs defender Thabo Moloisane appeared to wear the club’s No. 19 shirt during Amakhosi’s pre-season friendly against Rangers FC in Spain. However, it remains to be seen whether the jersey number will be his official squad number for the new Betway Premiership season.

The central defender made his unofficial debut as Fernando Da Cruz’s side played out a 1-1 draw against the Scottish giants. Supporters were quick to notice the number on the back of Moloisane’s shirt.

KAIZER CHIEFS NUMBER 19 AVAILABLE

The No. 19 jersey caught the attention of fans. Kaizer Chiefs have not yet confirmed the official squad numbers for the 2026/27 campaign.

The number became available after Happy Mashiane left the club last month following an unsuccessful loan spell at Siwelele FC.

The academy graduate struggled for regular game time in recent seasons. He spent the previous campaign on loan at Siwelele FC. However, the move failed to revive his career, leading to his release at the end of the season.

With the jersey now vacant, Moloisane appears to be the latest player to wear the iconic number, although the club is still expected to officially unveil its squad numbers.

Moloisane is expected to play a key role in Amakhosi’s defence after joining the club during the current transfer window. An official announcement on Kaizer Chiefs’ squad numbers is expected before the start of the new Betway Premiership season.

SOLID PEDIGREE

Moloisane developed through the youth ranks of Mamelodi Sundowns before representing South Africa at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

He joined Cape Town All Stars in 2020 to gain regular first-team football. He went on to make around 50 appearances in the National First Division, captaining the side during his time at the club.

His leadership earned him a move to Maritzburg United in 2022. It was where he featured in 26 matches before completing a switch to Stellenbosch FC in July 2023.

The defender enjoyed the most successful spell of his career with the Cape Winelands outfit. He made 115 appearances across three seasons. Moloisane helped the club win the Carling Black Label Cup, and gained valuable experience in the CAF Confederation Cup.
