Some Kaizer Chiefs fans have christened their red-hot striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana as Caleb Halaand.
The supporters were reacting via Facebook to Bimenyimana’s hattrick for Chiefs in the 3-1 win over Stellenbosch at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday. Nhlanhla Mgaga scored the hosts’ goal.
The fans are likening the Burundian’s scoring prowess to Manchester City’s unstoppable forward Erling Halaand.
The former Borussia Dortmund forward has made a mockery of what is perceived as the best league in the world after scoring 20 goals in 13 games of all competitions.
ERLING HALAAND COMPARISONS
Chiefs’ supporter Thobelani Anatti Dlamini drew comparisons between the Norwegian and the Burundian, saying: Caleb Haaland…Well done.”
Remofilwe Mahale echoed Dlamini’s remarks by writing: “Dankoo Haaland.”
Ironically, Amakhosi legend Collins Mbesuma recently urged the towering forward to study Halaand’s movement on and off the ball in order to perfect finishing.
Adoring Chiefs fans have since lauded the 24-year-old centre forward for silencing his critics who had doubts on his finishing abilities.
One such fan Mondli Njebomvu Ngcobo said Bimenyimana was bound to score more goals this season
“They didn’t believe in u but “God did!!” Keep up the good work BM Emnyama,” he said.
Taking her turn, Amakhosi follower Maria Silindza could not agree more with Ngcobo.
“You are silencing the haters in a polite way,” Silindza said.
David MrSmith Mtembu has since encouraged the Burundian to maintain his scoring rhythm.
“Keep up the good work! Very impressive. Make us proud one game at a time,” he said.
Um Firstlady Shibu also sent Bimenyimana a similar message of encouragement.
“My favorite player, keep on giving us more goals. This happiness is gonna kill me one day,” Shibu said.
Líñdár Dlāméãñ echoed similar sentiments, saying: “You are saluted bra…wow what a player you are.”
BIMENYIMANA GOES SPIRITUAL
Bimenyimana has since gone spiritual after netting the hattrick. “God is great,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Bimenyimana converted three penalties to join Peter Shalulile of Mamelodi Sundowns as the leading scorers in the DStv Premiership with six goals.
However, Bimenyimana has played fewer league games compared to Shalulile.
Bimenyimana is the first player to score a hattrick of penalties in PSL history since its inception in the 1996/07 season.
